Woman, 2 children hit by vehicle on Upper James: Hamilton police

A mother and her two children sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hamilton Thursday night.

According to police officials, a 90-year-old man was driving westbound on Mohawk Road around 10 p.m., and was making a turn onto Upper James Street.

Officers say the man failed to see a woman crossing the road with her two young children, and his vehicle collided with the three pedestrians.

All three victims were transported to hospital, where they were treated for varying, non-life-threatening injuries.

“The woman is suspected to have hip injuries (possible broken hip), one child had injuries to his face (cut upper lip area – possible facial fractures) while the other child only sustained minor scrapes,” Hamilton police told CHCH News in a statement.

Police say the man is being charged with careless driving.
