Hamilton Police have reviewed hours of video footage and confirmed the city’s 40th reported shooting of the year. We are asking the community to come forward with any information that can assist in this investigation.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 3:40 a.m., police responded to a parking lot located at 25 East Avenue North following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, no evidence of a shooting was discovered. However, investigators with the Shooting Response Team (SRT) have since obtained video footage confirming that a shooting did take place.
Hamilton Police Shooting Response Team is appealing to the community for any information regarding this shooting. The investigation has revealed that other people and vehicles were present in the parking lot at the time of the incident. We are requesting that those individuals come forward and contact investigators.
Additionally, we are asking residents and businesses in the area of East Avenue North, King Street East, and King William Street to review their security and dash camera footage for any evidence that may assist in this investigation.
The suspect in the shooting is described as:
– Male
– Wearing light-coloured pants
– Wearing a baseball hat
– Carrying a backpack
– Observed pushing a bicycle
The suspect was seen firing a handgun into the air while walking through the parking lot. Police are releasing video footage to the community in the hope that someone may be able to identify the individual.
