Update- Fatal Collision on Highway 52

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate this tragic fatal collision.

On Friday, March 22, 2024, shortly before 10:45 a.m., Hamilton Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Highway 52, south of Powerline Road in Copetown.

The investigation has determined that a white Chevrolet Impala was travelling southbound on Highway 52 when it lost control, veering into oncoming traffic of the northbound lanes, colliding with a black Ford Focus that was traveling north.  The white Chevrolet Impala eventually came to a halt off the road on the east side of Highway 52.

The collision claimed the lives of both occupants of the white Chevrolet Impala, a man and woman in their 80s.

The sole occupant of the black Ford Focus, a woman in her 50’s, was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital and is continuing her recovery at home.

Investigators are actively seeking any other witnesses and are requesting any motorists in the area at the time of the collision to check their dash cameras and/or surveillance footage.
