Police Probe Gunfire Incident After Citizen Reports Shell Casings Located

Hamilton Police continue to investigate after a citizen discovered numerous spent bullet casings into a residence in the area of Sherman Avenue South and Main Street East last evening.

The investigation began just after midnight on Saturday, May 18, 2024, when police received a report of what was believed to be gunshots. An initial investigation was conducted, but no witnesses, evidence of a shooting, or victims were found.

Late yesterday afternoon, Monday, May 20, 2024, police received a report from a citizen in the area of Sherman Avenue South and Main Street East who had been away for the weekend and returned to find several shell casings on their property. Further investigation revealed evidence of a firearm discharge. The exact timeline has been determined to be shortly before midnight on Friday, May 17, 2024.

No victims have been reported injured to the police in relation to this shooting.

Investigators are asking residents in the area with security cameras to review footage from the specified dates for any unusual or suspicious activity. Additionally, those who were driving nearby with dash cameras are urged to check their footage as well.
