Police Investigation Takes Guns Off Hamilton’s Streets

In our ongoing effort to address gun violence and ensure the safety of our community, Hamilton Police have successfully executed a residential search warrant on the Hamilton Mountain. This investigation led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Hamilton man and the seizure of multiple firearms, ammunition, and extended magazines.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Hamilton Police executed a search warrant at an address on East 24th Street after receiving information about the presence of firearms at the location. As a result of the search, officers seized:

  • A restricted Colt 1911 handgun with an extended magazine, loaded.
  • A non-restricted ‘Just Right’ Pistol Carbine rifle, also loaded.
  • Two additional extended magazines.
  • Ammunition of various calibres.

Johnathan Campbell, 38, of Hamilton, has been arrested and faces multiple charges:

  1. Possession of Prohibited Weapon
  2. Possession Contrary to Order
  3. Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  4. Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm
  5. Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  6. Possession of Prohibited Firearm – Loaded
  7. Trafficking in Firearm, Weapon, Device, or Ammunition

This matter is now before the courts.
