Police Investigate After Gunshots Exchanged in Hamilton Neighbourhood

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred late yesterday afternoon and detectives are asking for the public’s help.

On Monday, May 13, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area of Barton Street East and Kinrade Avenue. Officers were immediately dispatched and confirmed that a shooting had taken place. Witnesses reported that several individuals exchanged gunfire, and bullets were found in buildings, vehicles, garages, and on roadways. A vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was located abandon in the area, but the suspects remain outstanding.

Hamilton Police, including Patrol Officers, K9 Unit, Emergency Response Team, Shooting Task Force, and Forensics, promptly secured the scene and began their investigation.

We urge anyone with information to come forward. If you live in the area, please review your security camera footage from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. for any suspicious activity. If you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage, please contact us.
