In Westdale, Hamilton police declared a nuisance party, with police saying as many as 6,000 people were in the area known as the University Safety District near McMaster.
At the start of the day was a tailgate that included 13 bouncy castles, food, music, and a mechanical bull. At the time, students told CHCH this year was more controlled.
At the center of today’s event was a football game between McMaster and Western University.
Hamilton police say there could be serious consequences for uncontrolled parties.
Krista-Lee Ernst from Hamilton Police says, “If a nuisance party is declared within the University District Safety Initiative, a first offense fine could see up to $10,000 and secondary up to $25,000.”
Main Street West and Dale Wood were closed to vehicles. The Police Public Order Unit was out to try and keep everything under control.
