Joint investigation into Hamilton auto thefts leads to arrests: police

Police have arrested two people in connection with a series of auto thefts in Hamilton.

In June, Hamilton detectives were looped into an ongoing investigation involving stolen vehicles from dealerships across the city.

During each robbery, a suspect allegedly disguised his identity and provided the dealers with a fake I.D.

The accused would then arrange to test drive, or request to look at, the vehicles.

As soon as the keys were in his possession, he would drive away from the dealership in the stolen vehicle.

Following a joint investigation with Peel region and South Simcoe police, Hamilton officers say they were able to identify two suspects.

Arshdeep Gill and Navdeep Kaur are both facing charges relating to these auto thefts.

Before being apprehended, officers say Gill was already facing 19 charges for failing to comply with his probation.
