Hamilton Police Seize Loaded Firearm and Drugs in Early Morning Arrest

Hamilton Police Service continues its efforts to make our streets safer, following the seizure of a loaded firearm and a significant quantity of illicit drugs early this morning.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, shortly after 2:30 a.m., officers patrolling the area near Wentworth Street South and Main Street East observed suspicious activity surrounding a vehicle. Several individuals were gathered around the vehicle, prompting further investigation.

During investigation into of the 36-year-old female driver’s licence, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis from inside the vehicle. At this time, the male passenger began reaching for his waistband continuously. The male passenger abruptly exited the vehicle and fled on foot, continuing to reach for his waistband while discarding items along his path.

Officers pursued and arrested the 26-year-old male from Fenwick. A loaded firearm, along with various illict drugs, including suspected cocaine, over 6 grams of fentanyl, cannabis, and methamphetamine, were seized . The female driver, a Hamilton resident, was also arrested.

– Two Counts of Possession Contrary to Order

The names of the accused will be released once charges have been formally sworn at court. Both individuals are currently facing multiple charges and are scheduled to appear for a bail hearing later this morning.
