Hamilton Police Seize Firearm Following Altercation

Hamilton Police seized a loaded shotgun earlier today after responding to a disturbance near Main Street East and Wentworth Street.

On December 4, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m., police were called to a business regarding a dispute that escalated into violence. During the altercation, a woman was struck in the face with the butt of a shotgun, sustaining minor injuries.

Officers arriving at the scene located the suspect attempting to leave in a taxi. Upon investigation, police recovered a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the vehicle.

A 25-year-old woman from Hamilton has been arrested and is facing multiple charges related to the incident, including the following:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession
  • Point firearm x2
  • Possession contrary to order x4
  • CDSA 5(2) – Fentanyl
  • CDSA 5(2) Cocaine
  • CDSA 5(2) – Hydromorph
  • Proceeds of crime
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
