Hamilton police seek couple who broke into business and stole dog

Police have issued two arrest warrants in connection to a break-in that occurred last week in West Hamilton.

The property where the incident occurred was a home in Westdale, which doubled as a dog boarding business known as Kippen Cares.

Kippen Cares has been the focal point of several allegations of animal abuse stemming from the death of a customer’s dog, which was pulled from the property on June 18.

Following the initial recovery of the animal, an angry mob of people confronted the owner outside of the home.

Protests carried on outside of the property throughout the night.

The following day, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., police say that “individuals broke into 22 Parkside Drive and stole the occupant’s dog – a medium-sized black dog named Buster.”

The entire incident was captured on video and circulated on social media.

Shortly after the break-in, police say the occupants of the boarding business tried to return home but were confronted by a group of people — one of whom threw a water bottle at the woman’s face.

Hamilton police have issued warrants for 29-year-old Natasha Trask of St. Catharines for the entry to the home, as well as her 33-year-old boyfriend Shawn Running, who police had Buster, the dog, in his possession following the offence.

Police say they’re looking to identify the other people involved with the break-in as well as the assault with a weapon.
