Hamilton Police Respond to Threat at Two Local Schools

Earlier today, Thursday, September 12, 2024, shortly after 8:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to a report of a threat at Sherwood Public School, located at 25 High Street. The ongoing investigation led officers to a second location at Westmount Secondary School, 39 Montcalm Drive in the City of Hamilton.

Officers have determined that the incident involved a threat and the discovery of a replica firearm. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and police are continuing to gather information.

Hamilton Police are assuring the community that all students remained safe throughout the day as officers maintained a presence at both schools to ensure their safety.

The use of weapons, even replicas, in our community is unacceptable. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and report it to investigators, parents, or school staff.
