Hamilton Police Make Arrest in Grays Road Shooting

Hamilton Police have arrested a 17-year-old for a shooting that happened in October. 

On October 24, 2024, a tenant at 288 Grays Road in Hamilton found a bullet lodged in his residence. After an investigation by the Shooting Response Team, detectives were able to identify the individual responsible. 

On December 5, 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of King St and Sherman Avenue. As a result of the search warrant, detectives recovered a firearm and arrested a youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth faces the following charges:

  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm (2 counts)
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (2 counts)
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Criminal Negligence
