Hamilton Police are searching for two males wanted in connection for recent shootings in Hamilton.
Shooting at Market St and Hess St
On June 23, 2024, at about 5:00 a.m., Hamilton Police were dispatched to an alleyway in the area of Market St and Hess St for reports of a shooting. The victim reported a verbal argument between himself and the accused. A brief verbal dispute occurred in the alleyway which resulted the accused firing one shot at the victim. The shot missed and the victim fled unharmed. The investigation determined that a single round had been fired in what is believed to have been a targeted shooting.
The Shooting Response Team has continued the investigation and can announce an arrest warrant has been issued for 44-year-old Kevin Johnson of Hamilton. He is wanted on the following charges:
- Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
- Knowledge of an unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Assault with a Weapon
- Discharge a Firearm with Intent
- Fail to Comply with Release Order -2 counts
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to Order – 3 counts

Shooting at Peddles Bar
On August 24, 2024, at about 11:45 p.m., a shooting occurred outside of Peddles Bar located at 1490 Barton Street East. Just prior to the shooting the victims and Cunningham are observed in a minor physical altercation. The accused briefly left the altercation, but returned a short time later from inside the bar and shot the victims at close range.
As a result of this shooting, two individuals were taken to hospital for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. At the time of the shooting, the patio area of the bar was filled with patrons.
An arrest warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Gary Patrick Cunningham from Beeton, Ontario. Cunningham is wanted on the following charges:
- Discharge Firearm with Intent X2;
- Aggravated Assault X2;
- Possession of a Prohibited Loaded Firearm;
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm;
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
