In the early morning of May 10, 2024, Hamilton Police Service responded to 30 Congress Cres in the city’s east end for a shooting. Witnesses reported multiple gunshots were fired into the front entrance area of the building. There are no reports of injuries and it remains unclear at this time if there was an intended victim.
Police can confirm that a shooting did occur and multiple rounds were fired. Forensics have attended and processed the scene. Investigators are seeking to identify a reported beige SUV that contained an occupant with a firearm This vehicle was last seen leaving the entrance area of 30 Congress Cres. The vehicle is believed to have fled east bound from 30 Congress Cres. The actual number of occupants in this vehicle are unknown at this time.
The Shooting Response Team (SRT) will continue to investigate and will be in the area today canvassing for witnesses and video.
Investigators are asking area residents to check home surveillance footage between 2:00 am and 3:30 am on May 10.
