Hamilton Police Investigate Fail to Remain Collision

Hamilton Police are investigating an incident that left a 37-year-old Hamilton man with significant injuries.

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., police were called following a report of a collision. The victim reported that on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., they were walking home alone near King Street East and Holton Avenue South. While on the sidewalk walking on Sherman Avenue South, between Main Street East and King Street East, near a side street possibly closer to Dunsmure Road, they were struck by a larger vehicle, possibly a light-colored or white truck or SUV.

The driver failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

The victim remains in hospital.

The circumstances leading to the man’s injuries remain unclear as police continue to investigate.

Hamilton Police are asking residents in the area to review their security surveillance cameras between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for any suspicious activity. Additionally, if you were driving in the area and have dash camera footage, please contact investigators.
