Hamilton police identify 1 suspect in Kinrade shooting, another outstanding

Hamilton police have identified a man wanted in connection with a shootout that happened in broad daylight two weeks ago in the city’s east end.

Officers say two men, who appear to be friends, were involved in a gunfight with the driver of a Nissan vehicle shortly before 5 p.m. on May 13 in the area of Barton Street East and Kinrade Avenue.

The driver of the Nissan has now been identified as 25-year-old Malcolm Davis of Hamilton.

Investigators say Davis struck two other vehicles as he tried to flee the scene. He then crashed the vehicle near Gibson Avenue and ran away.

Following multiple reports of shots fired, police rushed to the scene and quickly confirmed that a shooting had taken place. Investigators say bullets were found in buildings, vehicles, garages and on roads.

Police also found the abandoned Nissan that day.

Investigators have issued an arrest warrant for Davis. He is wanted for 10 charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, among others.
