Fire in Hamilton’s east end causes $100,000 in damages

No injuries were reported after a fire broke out in Hamilton’s east end Thursday morning, causing $100,000 in damages.

Hamilton Fire says they responded around 9 a.m. for reports of two vehicles on fire at 96 Cascade Street, between Lake Avenue North and Covington Street.

The vehicles were in close proximity to a building, and crews immediately began firefighting operations to stop the spread of the flames.

Damage to the building was reported as limited, but public health was notified because smoke had entered the building and there was food handling on site.

Hamilton Fire says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
