Hamilton police say they have issued an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old boy in connection with a daytime shooting Wednesday.
Officers received reports shortly before 5 p.m. of a shooting in the area of Jackson and Walnut Streets.
Before police showed up, everyone involved in the incident had scattered. No one was injured.
Officers collected evidence at the scene and launched an investigation.
Police believe a verbal altercation between two groups of males escalated to gunfire.
Numerous witness reports given to responding officers indicated the suspects fled towards an apartment building at 115 Main St. East.

Officers contained the apartment, recovered a firearm, and arrested three male suspects. They were brought to a police station for interviews without incident but were later released.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, which led to the identification of the 16-year-old alleged shooter.
He is facing seven charges in relation to this incident, and detectives are encouraging him to turn himself in.
Officials say this shooting follows a “disturbing trend” in shootings and youth violence in Hamilton.
