2 men rescued from Hamilton Harbour after boat capsized

Police say two men were rescued from Hamilton Harbour after their boat capsized.

Officers say the vessel flipped around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Hamilton police’s marine unit arrived at the scene within minutes and found a partially submerged catamaran with two people inside.

They were helped out of the water and received medical treatment – the first for a cut finger and the other for early stages of hypothermia.

The boat was taken to LaSalle Marina, where it was taken out of the water.

Police say they discovered the vessel’s seacocks were not installed.

The marine unit continues to remind boaters to have the right safety gear before sailing.
