2 arrested while cleaning stolen vehicle at carwash in Hamilton

A Hamilton man and woman fumbled their clean getaway after they decided to take their stolen vehicle to the carwash to have it cleaned.

Subsequently, they were both arrested.

Police say that on Sunday, they witnessed a stolen vehicle near Campbell Avenue and Grosvenor Avenue North.

The vehicle was being driven by a man with a female passenger.

They turned into one of the self-serve wash bays at Gageview car wash on Main Street and Prospect Avenue, where police say they witnessed the driver get out and begin cleaning the vehicle.

According to their report, the responding officers approached the pair “without incident,” and detained them both.

A search of the man’s cross bag netted police a hefty some of contraband, including 42.15 grams of meth, 11.37 grams of fentanyl, 11.37 grams of Dilaudid pills, and $610.

The woman had 0.58 grams of fentanyl, 33.09 grams of cocaine, six clonazepam pills and $660.

Police say they also found two throwing knives in the vehicle.

Kyle Hunt, 34, of Hamilton is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000;
  • Operation while Prohibited;
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Fentanyl;
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Methamphetamine;
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Dilaudid;
  • Proceeds of Crime under $5,000;
  • Possess Prohibited Weapon;
  • Four Counts of Fail to Comply Probation; and,

Olivia Putignano, 32, of Hamilton is facing the following charges:

  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle without Consent
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Clonazepam
  • Proceeds of Crime under $5,000
  • Possession over $5,000
