HAMILTON, ON – To safely complete road reconstruction, the City of Hamilton will close Scenic Drive in both directions between Lavender Drive and Mohawk Road West (Wards 12 and 14) beginning Monday, April 8, 2024.
Lavender Drive (at the North section) will remain accessible via Scenic Drive, only the South section will be inaccessible (closest to Mohawk Road West).
All work is being completed in phases and is expected to wrap up in July 2024, weather permitting.
The work is a continuation of the previously complete road reconstruction work from 2023. The scope of work includes removing some existing road structure and creating new road structure, including curbs and sidewalks.
During the construction, Mark Anthony Graham Memorial Olympic Park will remain open, but the two parking lots on Scenic Drive will be inaccessible to the public. The parking lot accessible from Mohawk Road West will remain open and on-street parking is available on Lavina Crescent, on the east edge of the park.
Motorists should take an alternate route to avoid the closure. There is an HSR detour routing for End-of-Line Route 33 Sanatorium buses, as there will be no access to the Scenic and Lavender Loop.
The City of Hamilton thanks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience as we complete this important infrastructure reconstruction.
