Road closure on Hamilton mountain to last until Fall

The installation of a new sanitary system on Hamilton’s west mountain will close a significant thoroughfare until November.

Starting Tuesday, Garner Road will be closed to all eastbound traffic between Kitty Murray Lane and Raymond Road for the foreseeable future.

The city says installation work on a trunk sanitary sewer system is set to last until November.

Eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Southcote Road, then onto Book Road East before being spat out onto Glancaster Road.

For those taking public transit, HSR will get off Garner Road a bit sooner, at Fiddlers Green Road, before following a similar detour across Book Road East and Glancaster Road.

“This construction work will not impact Emergency Services and their accessibility to residents,” the city said in its latest update.
