After nearly 100 years, the Hamilton Aviary is hosting its final open house.
The bird sanctuary and education centre says the event is scheduled for Sunday at its location at 85 Oak Knoll Dr.
“Our beloved flock will soon be off on new adventures in their carefully selected placements and would love to have their biggest supporters wish them well,” reads a statement from the Hamilton Aviary.
The volunteer group says they are inviting people to visit the flock one last time before the birds are rehomed into foster care.
Once all of the birds have been placed, the not-for-profit will focus on educational programs and workshops, while raising money for a new sanctuary.
Hamilton city council voted last year to close down the current site because of costly and much-needed repairs.
