Drinking water advisory lifted for 21 residences in Ancaster

A drinking water advisory has been lifted by the City of Hamilton’s Medical Officer of Health for residences on Woodworth Drive East in Ancaster. The advisory was lifted on May 25 and had been in effect since May 21, 2024, affecting 21 residences.

Hamilton Water worked closely with the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks and Hamilton Public Health Services to approve the plan that allowed Hamilton Water to return the watermain to regular service. This included robust rounds of flushing and three water samples being confirmed safe by a laboratory. With the Drinking Water Advisory lifted, tap water is safe to drink for the affected residences. Hamiton Water hand-delivered notification of the advisory being lifted to all affected residences on May 25, 2024.

“We recognize the concern and inconvenience that residents experienced over the past few days and we are grateful for their patience and cooperation while we worked to restore safe drinking water”, said Nick Winters, Director, Hamilton Water. “We want to extend our gratitude as well to Hamilton Water staff who worked diligently and quickly to restore drinking water to the affected residences.”
