Woman fights off sexual abuser while outside her Niagara Falls apartment

Niagara police are on the hunt for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman while she was outside of her apartment.

Authorities say they went to a residence near Queen Street and Erie Avenue for a sexual assault call that occurred at 4 a.m. Sunday.

Police learned that the victim was standing outside of her apartment just an hour earlier when a man she didn’t know approached her from behind and began accosting her.

They say the man then assaulted the woman and then attempted to assault her sexually.

“The female was able to fight her way out of the situation and regain safety in her apartment,” police said in an update Sunday morning.

Authorities called out their K-9 unit to canvass the area, but say due to how much time had passed, they were unable to track anyone down.

Now, authorities are the public to keep an eye out for the suspect.

He has light-to-medium skin and stands between five-foot-five and five-foot-six. He was last seen wearing a brown cable knit zip-up sweater, black slush pants and a brown baseball cap.

Anyone who sees a man matching the description is asked not to approach him and instead dial 911.
