What’s open and closed in and around Hamilton on Truth and Reconciliation Day

Truth and Reconciliation Day is a federal statutory holiday, but not a provincial one in Ontario, meaning only some services will be affected.

What’s closed on Monday

Many banks will be closed.
Provincial and federal government offices including passport offices and Service Canadas will be closed on Monday
There will be no mail delivery by Canada Post.
City offices and libraries within the Halton region will be closed.

What’s open on Monday

Grocery stores and malls will open during regular operating hours.
All Ontario schools, universities and colleges will be open.
All municipal government officers including city hall, community centres, public libraries and museums in Hamilton will be open.
In the Halton region all community centres will be open.
LCBO and Beer Store locations will be open at regular hours.

Waste collection will also not be affected.
All transit is running on normal schedules.
