Two schools in the Town of Lincoln were broken into and badly vandalized over the weekend, police say.
Investigators say both the incidents occurred last Saturday and left the school’s interiors badly damaged.
The first school that was broken down was Twenty Valley Public School.
Officers believe one or more people broke into the school between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. and caused “extensive damage.”
“It is estimated that it will cost approximately $80,000 to $100,000 to remediate the damage,” the department said in a release Tuesday.
The precinct deployed a canine unit to search the area but ultimately turned up empty-handed.
A short while later, between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., a similar incident occurred at West Niagara Secondary School after someone broke in and caused yet another bout of “extensive” vandalism.
Additionally, two vehicles were stolen from the premises after the suspects accessed the facility’s automotive garage.
“The suspects were observed driving the vehicles dangerously in the area of King Street and Greenlane Road in Lincoln,” police say. Both vehicles were recovered near Greenlane Road.
