At a time when house prices in Canada are at a historical high, many are turning to new avenues to either break into the market or find an affordable way to downsize.
On Friday, the Tiny Home Show at the Ancaster Fairgrounds unveiled a lineup of builders who offer just that: An affordable alternative for those looking to make a big, little change in their life.
“My townhome was a three bedroom townhouse, three floors, one person with a dog, now in my tiny home I have less than 400 square feet,” Kim Woefle, a tiny home owner said.
“There’s no clutter in my home. I feel at peace.”
And she’s just one of the many thousands of Canadian’s visiting the event who are embracing the change, Bianca Metz, a tiny home consultant, said.
“There’s a conversation to be had, there’s a foundation and municipalities are recognizing them as affordable housing solutions.”
Metz added that a lot of people are considering the move to a tiny house, especially first-time buyers and those looking to make a selection that’s affordable.
The event runs from July 12 and 14 and features a wide variety of different layouts, custom builders and consultants who can field questions for those interested in making the leap.
