Thorold man charged after police seize handgun, over $43K in drugs

A Thorold man is facing multiple charges after police seized a loaded handgun and nearly $44,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Niagara police say they carried out a search warrant Wednesday in a vehicle and at a home in Thorold.

Investigators recovered a loaded semi-automatic Glock handgun with an extended magazine, $28,000 worth of fentanyl, $15,000 in cocaine, 173 Dilaudid pills worth $865, bullets, counterfeit currency, counterfeit driver’s licenses, over $10,000 in Canadian cash and $256 in American cash.

Detectives arrested and charged 36-year-old Boadi Sarkodie with nine drug and firearm-related offences.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday in St. Catharines.
