At the event Friday morning, children 12 and younger participated in the hunt to fill their baskets with Easter eggs while the food banks accepted monetary and non-perishable food donations.

Tracy Adomeit an organizer of the Easter egg hunt with the Flamborough Food Bank said, that although food banks have always been an important part of communities, today’s event is extremely important in the face of growing food prices.

“This year more than ever we’ve had a tremendous increase in the number of people who are relying on food banks to support their ability to get food,” she said.

Local food banks may have specific donation requests depending on need.
