Police in Halton have arrested a 25-year-old who was in possession of a sawed-off rifle, along with a 16-year-old, after receiving reports of a “loud bang” in Oakville.
According to officials, police dispatched to the area of Victoria and Chalmers Streets on Monday evening just before 7:30 p.m.
Community members spotted two suspects fleeing the area in a vehicle, which officers located a short time later.
A sawed-off rifle was found in possession of one of the suspects, which police believed was the source of the loud noises reported earlier.

No injuries were reported, and Halton officials say they are trying to determine the purpose of the firearm discharge.
Twenty-five-year-old David Hilchey of Oakville is facing a total of seven charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
A 16-year-old boy from Burlington was also arrested, and faces eight charges in connection with this incident.
Officers are requesting residents in the area where the firearm discharged to examine their security footage between the times of 7:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for any footage of the incident.
