St. Catharines man facing charges for possessing, creating child abuse material

A Niagara man is facing multiple charges for allegedly possessing and making child abuse materials.

The department’s internet child exploitation unit launched an investigation into the uploading and sharing of child sexual abuse over a social media platform in May.

On Thursday, police say they carried out a raid on a home in St. Catharines where they seized “seized numerous devices capable of storing electronic data.”

Following the search, 68-year-old Stephen Gregory Comis was taken into custody and charged with multiple charges, including making, accessing and possessing child pornography.

Comis is scheduled to undergo a bail hearing at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse on Friday.
