St. Catharines man, 49, charged with drug trafficking offences

Niagara police have arrested and charged a 49-year-old man in connection with reports of drug trafficking in St. Catharines.

An investigation led to the arrest of a suspect on Tuesday following a traffic stop in the area of Scott Street and Vine Street.

A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed various illicit drugs, including 24.8 grams of fentanyl, 61.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 38.7 grams of cocaine, 14 Hydromorphone pills, 100 Oxycodone pills, adding up to a total estimated street value of $15,000.

Craig Burton of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following seven offences:

  • Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Possession of crystal methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000

Burton was held in custody pending a bail hearing in St. Catharines court at a later date.
