SIU investigate after triple fatal crash in Milton, Ont.

Ontario’s top police watchdog is investigating the circumstances that led to a two-vehicle crash in March that killed three people.

Emergency crews responded to a crash at Derry Road and Sixth Line in Milton in the early morning of March 30.

Officers say that three victims, a 16-year-old girl, an 18-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were all pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old man was identified as Mousawar Ahmed from Milton in a GoFundMe campaign that raised over $140,000 for his family.

Detectives learned that the 16 and 18-year-old were travelling together in a black Infiniti G35 and the 26-year-old man was in a Honda CRV.

The Special Investigations Unit was contacted by Halton Regional Police on July 22 and after reviewing the crash has invoked its mandate.

The SIU has assigned four investigators, a collision reconstructionist and one forensic investigator to the case.

The unit has also designated two subject officials and six witness officials to the investigation.
