Three people convicted of manslaughter in the torture and death of a Hamilton man are set to be sentenced later this month.
Tommy Hoang was killed in February 2021, after being lured to his then-girlfriend’s east Hamilton apartment.

There, he was beaten, tortured and robbed.
The Crown previously described the murder as an ambush that was “motivated by greed,” telling the court how Hoang was found with his throat slashed, a fractured skull, numerous wounds and bite marks.
He died in hospital two weeks later.
30-year-old Jason Long was convicted of second-degree murder in the case and has already been sentenced to life in prison, with no chance of parole for 16 years.
Hoang’s girlfriend at the time, Madeline Peternel, along with Robyn Cove and Daniel Holland all pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will be sentenced on June 24th.
While manslaughter carries a potential life sentence, the crown and defence are arguing for five to 10 years in prison for each of them.
