Scooter crash in Niagara Falls sends man to hospital with life-threatening injuries

A 30-year-old scooter driver is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after colliding with a vehicle in Niagara Falls on Monday afternoon.

Niagara police say the crash happened around 2:30 p.m. near Drummond Road and Frederica Street.

A 72-year-old Ohio man was driving southbound on Drummond Road when the scooter side-swiped the rear driver side of his Mercedes, causing the St. Catharines man to fall off of his scooter.

Paramedics transported the scooter driver to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for the investigation and reopened at approximately 8:05 p.m.
