The RCMP has yet to comment on why its officers were sent to a Caledonia neighbourhood in force yesterday.
A newly built subdivision off of McClung Road was the scene of a heavy police presence on Tuesday as Mounties probed the neighbourhood with armed officers and K-9 units.
Officers narrowed in on a home near Basswood Crescent and Lilac Circle around 6 p.m.
One neighbour says that their 29-year-old daughter was visiting one of the homes that was searched by the force, and adds that she is still trying to get a hold of her.
Another neighbour says that when they asked an on-scene officer what was taking place, they were told that there was “no real problem” and that the officers were executing a search warrant.
An OPP spokesperson said that none of their officers were sent to the scene and that they weren’t aware of any RCMP operations taking place in the area.
CHCH News has reached out to the federal police force for more information force but has yet to hear back.
