RCMP makes major bust in suspected Golden Horseshoe drug ring

An RCMP-led task force says they have dismantled a “well-organized” group that is believed to be involved in drug distribution in the Hamilton, Caledonia, and Niagara regions.

Cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and other drugs were allegedly being trafficked by this organization in the Golden Horseshoe area of Ontario.

An investigation into the drug distribution was launched last year after police uncovered evidence of a network in the area.

Officials say arrests and warrants were executed in three rounds, starting in April.

Through these searches, police seized large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription pills. They also discovered firearms, ammunition, and Canadian currency.

In a release, RCMP officials also said several kilograms of “suspicious substances” had been sent to a lab for testing.

Following the third round of warrants in late June, there are now 19 individuals who face charges for their involvement in this criminal operation.

Police believe three men to be the alleged leaders of the group.

Sean Bixby, David Langhorn, and Dwayne Smith are all facing numerous drug trafficking-related charges.

Sixteen additional individuals are also facing charges.

“We will continue to work together to send a clear message that these weapons and dangerous drugs will not be tolerated on our streets,” Niagara police said in a statement.
