Property, several trailers and vehicles ablaze in Sherkston Shores

Emergency crews responded to a fire at Sherkston Shores Monday morning where multiple vehicles and three trailers were severely damaged.

At around 6:30 a.m. Port Colborne Fire and Emergency Services were responded to reports of a fire at a property in Sherkston, Ont.

Eyewitnesses say when firefighters arrived two trailers were fully engulfed in flames, spreading quickly to a third.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames after multiple vehicles caught fire and nearby buildings were scorched.

The fire chief told CHCH News that they believe a mechanical fire that started in an unoccupied trailer was the source of the flames, which spread to the other vehicles.

The fire is not considered suspicious at this time, and the total cost in damages is still being assessed.

The police have not disclosed if anyone was injured from the fires yet.
