Last year we brought you the story of a young man looking to make his mark in the mascot game and since then, Corey Field went from getting a few thousand fans going in Utica New York, to living out his dream as an NFL mascot.
Now the Hamiltonian is looking for work again after the Tampa Buccaneers failed to secure a visa for him.
At 21 years old, Corey Field already has a pretty decent resume as a mascot.
“It’s been amazing, this time last year I was making my move to New York, to pursue my entertainment to mascot with the New Jersey Devils organization and the Tampa Bay Lightning organization.”
And then the New York Yankees reached out to him, “Getting that call and email from the New York Yankees was insane they asked me to relocate to Tampa Florida to mascot for their spring training operations.
The Yankees hadn’t had a mascot in over 45 years, so he says it took fans a while to warm up to “King Ripple.”
Field, who up until recently was a baseball player had to pinch himself while being with the Yankees, “It was insane, being on the field with Aaron Judge, sharing a locker room was the most amazing experience.”
Field wasn’t with the Yankees organization for long when the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers came calling for the role of “Captain Fear” and nailed it.
“It is insane, it all started right here. To 64,000 fans in my debut as a buccaneer.”
Unfortunately, his NFL dream was sacked, “A week before my NFL debut, I got a call from the Bucs legal team stating they didn’t have a visa for me, so my first game would also be my last. It was devastating.”
While Corey’s dream of becoming an NFL mascot is on pause for now, he still has several opportunities locally to entertain fans.
“I don’t look at it as something to get upset over. I’m now around my friends and family i love Hamilton, and I look forward to finding mascoting opportunities.”
