Police seek victims connected to Halton human trafficking case

Police are hoping to identify more victims after making an arrest in connection with a human trafficking case.

Officers launched an investigation into these crimes last month, after receiving reports of an adult woman allegedly being trafficked by a suspect within Halton region.

Members of the human trafficking task force determined that over the course of a year, the suspect allegedly abused the victim, created online advertisements, exercised control over aspects of her life, and profited financially from it.

Following the two-month investigation, 43-year-old Aleksandar Lazic of Toronto was arrested.

Lazic faces numerous charges relating to these crimes, including human trafficking and assault.

Investigators believe there may be more victims throughout the GTHA. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Halton police at 905-825-4747 ext 4973.
