Police seek man wanted in alleged sexual assault on Brantford trail

Brantford police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl last week.

Officers say the teen was walking on a trail that extends from Veterans Memorial Parkway to Bell Lane on May 16 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. when she was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Investigators say the incident was reported to police on Monday.

Brantford police describe the man as being in his 20s or older and five-foot-four with brown eyebrows, eyes and skin.

The suspect was wearing a head covering that hid his face at the time of the incident.

Officers say they don’t believe there are any other victims at this time.

Residents in the area of Shellard Lane, Bell Lane, Mount Pleasant Street and Helen Avenue are asked to check their surveillance cameras between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on May 16 for any suspicious activity.

Drivers who were in that area at that time are also asked to review their dash camera footage.
