Halton police are on scene in Burlington after a body was discovered in Lake Ontario.
According to officials, police received reports shortly after 4 p.m. indicating there was a person floating in the water off of the Burlington Pier.
The marine unit, fire crews, and police all dispatched to the scene, where they recovered the body.
They confirmed the person was deceased.
Police have not released any details about the person’s age or gender.
Halton officials say initial findings suggest it may have been a boating accident, but that has yet to be confirmed.
There are no other injuries being reported at this time, and police say they are unaware if there are any damaged boats in the area.
The coroner has been contacted.
