A St. Catharines man has been arrested for alleged child pornography offences following a joint police investigation with links to the province of Alberta.
Saul Ernesto Azurdia de Leon, age 24, allegedly used the internet to make digital image video files of child pornography available to other web users. He was charged in St. Catharines on August 13 with two counts of possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography and making child pornography available.
In May of this year Niagara detectives assigned to the Internet Child Exploitation Unit and the Southern Alberta Internet Child Exploitation Unit became involved in a joint investigation.
The investigation led Niagara police service detectives from two units to execute a search warrant at a private residence where they arrested Azurdia de Leon and seized numerous data-storage devices.
The accused was held in custody after his arrest and was set to appear for a bail hearing on August 13 in St. Catharines.
