Police arrest 1 of 5 suspects in life-threatening St. Catharines assault

Niagara police have arrested one suspect in connection with an aggravated assault in St. Catharines at the end of March that left one person with life-threatening injuries.

An altercation broke out at a St. Catharines establishment on Mar. 25 around 12:03 a.m. near St. Paul Street and James Street.

Police say five people assaulted the victim, who was then transported to an out of region hospital with life-threatening injuries.

An investigation uncovered the identity of four of the five suspects. One suspect was later arrested when officers attended an address for an unrelated matter and found him inside.

Taylor Cronkwright, 31, was charged with aggravated assault and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Cronkwright was held in custody pending a bail hearing at a later date.

Police say three other suspects have outstanding warrants for their arrest in relation to the assault on Mar. 25.

Jacob Davis, 30, of Kitchener is described as an Indigenous man, five-foot-six, 265 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair, a beard, and a tattoo on his right hand that says “Six Nations.”

Thirty-two-year-old Ricardo Tabora of Toronto is described as a Latino man, five-foot-eight, 141 pounds, with a medium build, brown eyes, and black hair and a beard.

Brooklyn Mayer, 29, of St. Catharines is described as a white man, five-foot-nine, 185 pounds, with a medium build, brown hair, and hazel eyes.

Police say they believe there is a fifth suspect who has yet to be identified.

Cronkwright and Mayer were previously arrested in December 2023 for being involved in a violent fight at Canucks Ale House in St. Catharines.
