Person charged with attempted murder in fatal 5-vehicle crash in Port Dover

Ontario Provincial Police say a person involved in a fatal five-vehicle crash in Port Dover over the weekend is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder.

Emergency crews were called shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday to Highway 6 near Blueline Road, where there was a collision between three motorcycles, an SUV and a pickup truck.

Officers say a passenger of one of the motorcycles died at the scene and the driver of the same motorcycle sustained serious injuries. The operator of another motorcycle sustained minor injuries.

Investigators say an altercation broke out after the crash, which left one person in hospital with serious injuries.

Police then arrested and charged one person with five offences, including attempt to commit murder, dangerous operation causing death and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, among other charges.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for Tuesday at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe.
