For the second time this week, a dump truck with its box up has crashed into something on the QEW.
This time, in Niagara, where the overhead exit sign for Glendale Avenue was destroyed after a forgetful driver ploughed the box of their commercial vehicle through it, leaving the metal structure badly mangled.
As a result, the northbound QEW near Mountain Road in Niagara Falls will be closed for three hours, police say.
The OPP’s highway safety division took to social media around 12:30 p.m. Friday to share the news.
They add that the driver returned to the scene and is facing charges.
No one was injured.
This is the second time a commercial vehicle has forgotten to lower its box up this week, resulting in a crash.

On Tuesday, a dump truck collided with an overhead pedestrian bridge near North Service Road and Cawthra Road in Mississauga.
The collision brought traffic to a crawl for several hours as investigators shuttered the scene and workers hustled to repair the damage.
