Officials investigating ‘suspicious’ fire at Oakville home

A fire has destroyed a home in West Oakville.

No one was injured and officials say it is being investigated as suspicious.

Fire crews were called out to the residence near Bridge Road and Third Line shortly before 3 a.m.

By sunrise, crews had managed to wrestle control of the blaze.

“I woke up to a really loud noise and my sister was telling me, ‘wake up, there’s a fire. Thankfully, no one was injured,” a neighbour at the scene told CHCH News.

Oakville’s Deputy Fire Chief Drew Boys said the cause of Monday’s fire remains under investigation.

Officials say it has the characteristics of a suspicious fire and is being investigated as so.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been notified.

This is the second fire-related incident that has taken place at this property.

Last Saturday, a fire broke out in the garage. It, too, was brought under control with no injuries. Police say it remains under investigation and call the blaze “suspicious.”
