A man in Niagara is facing charges following a brief foot-chase with police after he had held a man at knife-point.
Officers say they were called out to an area near Church Street and Queenston Street in St. Catharines around 11:25 a.m. Monday, where a man was “wielding a knife towards an unidentified male.”
The suspect took off on foot towards Niagara Street.
Police say they were able to track the man utilizing the department’s real time operations centre, and the suspects location was provided to the responding officers by use of live camera monitoring.
The man was subsequently arrested near Niagara Street and Queenstown Street.
No one was injured during the incident.
Brian Hamilton, a 39-year-old of no fixed address is facing one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He’s been released on bail and has a court date scheduled for June 11.
